exhale

an error from the past

is not attached tome

so why do I let it define

what I’m destined to be

cloak of shame is lifted

I’ve tossed it to the ground

despair will not be joining me

to the place I am bound

its a fresh new slate

a bright new me

my old debts are cleared

zero outstanding fee

so I march forward untethered

unshacked at last

eyes focused forward

exhaling the past
